Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments this season as a result of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the deciding set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her at times this year.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

She secured twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
