Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at Age 60.

American actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, according to media reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

A Notable TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is remembered by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
