I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer will face Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the pair confronted each other to publicize the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, theoretically, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.
Boxer's Attitude
"I plan to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I'm going to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my intention."
Civil Exchange
Despite those words, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his dramatics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.
Jake Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Attraction
Still, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, consistently making huge financial rewards.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for 2026.
"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.
Size Difference
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the customary stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is really proceeding.
