Responding To Previous Mistakes

The new release arrives after the release of the sci-fi the last installment, launched in the past to a unfavorable response it found it hard to overcome.

"We probably couldn't build and design the latest entry without the learnings we gained in the previous title," she explains to us.

One of those insights was to get fans participating soon, and the team launched exclusive player playtests in recent months.

Another missing component from the last game was a story mode, which has been restored this time around.

Criterion design director Fasahat "Fas" Salim is the person tasked with "making sure those stages are as fun and engaging as feasible for the gamers."

Regardless of reports that the scope of the project had put a strain on the multiple studios collaborating globally to create the game, he is positive about the endeavor.

"Working with varied cultures, varied experiences, it's a very engaging setting to be involved in on a regular basis," he shares.

"This entire strategy has been something new but something really exciting because we are collaborating with people from internationally."

As for the anticipation on the developers, the director states: "We experience stress but at the same time it's motivating.

"We're dealing with a big undertaking. It's probably the largest that most of us have before worked on."

New Developer Brings Fresh Perspective
