Recent Information Come to Light About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the untimely passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence home on Sunday.
A Discovery
A source indicates citing a confidential source, a massage therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
Clarifications
The confidential informant questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
The source also pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
