Star Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views After Lending His Voice To Disputed Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has provided his voice to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccinations and commends one-time government figure RFK Jr.
The Feature's Contentious Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a popular book published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was a result of a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The publication's writing partner, the executive producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality a known commentator. He wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Denial
Representatives for Liam Neeson have issued a response strongly denying suggestions that he holds anti-vax views.
"We all recognize that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be conflated with being against vaccines," the comment states. "He never has been, and remains not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency highlights his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
The statement added that the performer had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that questions about its assertions ought to go to the filmmakers.
Central Themes Featured in the Feature
In the film, the narration read by Neeson makes several controversial points:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It declares that "science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is interviewed claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- It takes aim at pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it mentions a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Context and Current Debates
It also references a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the corporation for editorial breaches.
Recently, Kennedy called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is echoed in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the World Health Organisation stating no connection has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Endorsement
Contrasting the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," adding that "The debate about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script stating, "This marks not the finish of our narrative. It is the dawn of a different phase."
