The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by bleakness, this show's sincerity struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who took a chance on the show and spread the word," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this charming family go about their daily lives.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well be part of that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
