People have assembled around the country to commemorate two years since the Hamas-initiated offensive on 7 October 2023, as talks continued in Egypt over an end to the war in Gaza.

The assault led to over 1,200 people killed and 251 others captured back to Gaza as hostages. It was the uniquely deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

Israel reacted by beginning a defensive operation in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, based on figures from the region's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are seen as accurate by the United Nations and other world agencies.

"Our aggressive enemies have struck forcefully, but they have not defeated us," Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "achieve all the goals of the war: the return of all the captured, the destruction of the Hamas administration and the guarantee that Gaza will no longer create a danger to Israel".

Commemorative Ceremonies Across Israel

The Israeli government rescheduled official memorials until mid-October - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but events still occurred around the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the families of people who died in the Hamas incident was conducted in the coastal city. Organized by the victims' relatives, it was aired across Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was respected across the country.

Negotiation Talks in Egypt

Simultaneously, both sides' delegations gathered in the Egyptian tourist destination of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of indirect talks to review the provisions of the proposal.

A prominent representative involved in the discussions revealed that an night meeting of indirect talks commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The source said the morning session finished without tangible results, because of conflicting views over the proposed Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not recommence fighting after the initial stage of the arrangement.

He commented that the negotiations are "challenging and have not yet deliver any real breakthrough," but mentioned that facilitators are striving to close the gaps between the two sides.

Key Issues in Negotiations

  • An enduring truce
  • The trade of the prisoners still held by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of troops from Gaza
  • Measures for humanitarian aid deliveries
  • Post-war management of the territory

Citizen Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, 29-year-old Hagar - whose sibling endured the attack on the outdoor event, where many attendees were murdered and many more were taken hostage by Hamas fighters - explained: "Nowhere seems like home any longer and until each abducted person are released none of us will have peace of mind."

"When we see all home once more, we can breathe anew. Then we can begin to recover," she continued.

Outside the leader's home in the capital, people congregated to express their support for the families of the abducted. Israel states forty-eight continue in confinement in Gaza, 20 of whom are considered to be surviving.

Protester one woman stated: "We need do whatever arrangement needed for the abducted to return. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that about 70% of Israelis desire the conflict to finish in as payment for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Circumstances

At the location of Nova festival, grieving people assembled to pay their respects.

From there, the noise of military attacks and shelling could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where observers indicated the severe Israeli shelling persisted.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were reported in the dawn of Tuesday in the west side district, area and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the east side district of the community, as well the settlement to the northwest.

"Once the night falls, the fear appears with it," relocated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack previously, described.

"My family are afraid of the bombings. During nighttime we are lying together, clinging, particularly my little child who rests his face on me all night."

"Constantly we check the news to see developments. And I'm worried that this ceasefire will not be finalized and that the conflict will come back to us."

Humanitarian Crisis

The medical facility in the urban area announced it had accepted the bodies of several people by the midday, including three who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern area.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of that area indicated additional victims had been delivered. An individual was lost his life by Israeli troops while looking for aid to the south, medical staff said.

The region's health ministry announced 25 of the {territ
