The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
