Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first championship series since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation besides him with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
